Himmel is German for Heaven, also a word play with the Finnish term ”himmeli” translating into a hanging straw ornament. For art association ITU’s 2019 summer exhibition called ”Lovers of * the Milky Way” I made two large-scale versions of (part of) traditional straw ornaments, painted silver and gold. The piece was built in a darkened room and lit only by led light strings – until somebody walked in between the structures and caused them to light up brightly.
