2021

Donated and upcycled materials (wood, fabric, string, gauze, wadding), video and sound.
Installation size 230 x 300 x 220 cm. Figure is human sized.

Art association ITU’s 2021 summer exhibition had WATER as its theme. For my entry, I created a room installation with a double veiled green figure sitting on a high chair, seemingly pregnant. They are holding umbilical cord like strings. One of the strings leads up to a grey dress hanging from one wall, the other to a green empty baby boy laying by the side of the chair. In front of the figure, situated so that the viewer must lower their caze to see it, is an old, small TV-set with video running. The video depicts a human in the grey dress seen in the installation, floating on water, very slowly having a slight transformation. There’s a subtle soundtrack of watery sound and dark ambience playing.

Some visitors interpreted the installation as referring to amniotic fluid. Interstingly, the alternative name I had for this piece was: ”Unnamed (Amniotic Fluid)”.
